I personally prefer 123D from Autodesk which has been discontinued, but you may be able to find it. It's not the most powerful tool, but it is very quick and easy to use. It is especially useful for making simple chassis where you just need a cylander of a certain size with shapes cut out. I have made fairly sophisticated designs with it. The next step up is Fusion 360, which is also by Autodesk, but the controls are totally different from 123D. It is free as long as you aren't using it for business revenues in excess of $100,000/yr.

I swear by Fusion 360. It's very good once you get used to it.
